What does the data actually show?
“There is no universal best time to post on Pinterest. Different content types attract audiences at different times, and trends change as audiences evolve.”

Timing didn’t predict success. So what did? Consistency, and fresh content, including alt text on every Pin. Exactly what Tailwind makes easy.

What We Found: Two Key Results
Does posting time matter for Pinterest success?
Not as much as you’d think. Our analysis of 17,000+ accounts found no universal best time. What varies is the audience: different content types attract people active at different hours, and those patterns shift as audiences evolve. Chasing a fixed posting window misses the point.
Finding #14, Tailwind Benchmark Study
What does predict high-traffic Pins?
High-traffic Pins were up to 54% more likely to have been published through Tailwind. The advantage comes from enforced best practices (titles, descriptions, alt text, and consistent scheduling), not from posting at the right time.
Finding #13, Tailwind Benchmark Study
How We Analyzed 1.2 Million Pins
Founder, Tailwind — a Pinterest Partner since 2012
We studied 1.2 million organic Pins published by 17,000+ accounts between 2023 and 2024. Paid Pins were excluded. We measured success by outbound click volume: the metric that directly represents traffic to your site.
26% of Pins in the dataset were scheduled through Tailwind. The remaining 74% were scheduled through other tools or published directly. This natural split let us compare outcomes across scheduling methods without selecting for Tailwind users specifically.
What this study can tell you: whether scheduling method, metadata completeness, and posting consistency correlate with higher-traffic Pins.
What it can’t: whether Tailwind causes better outcomes. Tailwind users may differ in other ways. They may be more experienced, more consistent, or more likely to follow Pinterest best practices independently. The 54% finding is a correlation, not a controlled experiment.

How to Build a Consistent Pinterest Posting Schedule
- 1
Decide how many Pins you want to publish per day
We recommend at least 5. Consistency matters more than volume.
- 2
Prepare complete metadata for every Pin
Title, description, and alt text. Our data shows this is the strongest predictor of high-traffic Pins.
- 3
Space your Pins evenly throughout the day
Avoid posting in bursts. SmartSchedule handles this automatically, distributing your Pins across waking hours so your content reaches audiences steadily.
- 4
Avoid reposting the same content too frequently
Give each Pin enough breathing room before it appears again.
- 5
Review your results after 2–3 weeks, not 2–3 days
Pinterest traffic compounds over time. Early data is noisy.
